The National Football Conference is home to the New Orleans Saints, one of the 32 teams in the National Football League. The Saints play in the NFC South Division, their main rivals being the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Carolina Panthers, and Atlanta Falcons. The Saints stadium is called the Louisiana Superdome and is located in New Orleans. The Superdome has a seating capacity of 64,900. New Orleans team headquarters is in Metairie, Louisiana. Saints Head Coach Sean Payton enters his 3^rd season at the helm, guiding the Saints to the NFC Title Game in his first season, and finishing the 2007 NFL Schedule with a 7-9 record and 2^nd place finish in the NFC South. The players are in place for the Saints to make a run at an NFL Championship, most notably stars Reggie Bush, Drew Brees, Marques Colston, and Deuce McAllister. The Saints want to build off the strong 2^nd half of the 2007 season, when they played some really good football.

The Saints have a lot of tradition and history, although they are only 1 of 6 teams in NFL history to have never played in a Super Bowl. The Saints were found as an NFL expansion team in 1967, and went more than a decade before the team finished north of .500. The Saints won their first playoff game in 2000, against the favored St. Louis Rams. Being one of the best stories of the decade, the saints 2006 season was simply magical. They became the first team in NFL history to reach a conference championship game a year removed from losing 13 games. Local businessman Tom Benson bought the Saints in 1985, and quickly became one of the more popular people in Louisiana and one of the more popular owners in the NFL. Benson's popularity would suffer during the Hurricane Katrina devastation, as rumors swirled that Benson was looking to relocate the team when New Orleans residents wouldn't fund a new football stadium. The team has stayed and prospered in New Orleans.

Players, coaches, and ownership alike are ready to use the 2008 season to get the sour taste of last year out of their mouths. Although the season was disappointing, there were many positives to build upon. Building the team through free agency, the Saints have made strengthening their defense a top priority, bringing in free agents Jonathan Vilma, Randall Gay, Dan Morgan, and Aaron Glenn. Other needs will be met via the 2008 draft, in which the Saints have 6 picks, including the 1oth overall pick. The Saints, like all teams, will be looking for players who will be able to step in and provide quality depth to their roster. On October 26^th the Saints will play the San Diego Chargers in London, England. The Saints will be the "home" team. This is the NFL's second game in London in as many years.
