The Minnesota Vikings compete in the National Football Conference of the National Football League. The Vikings NFC North Division rivals are the Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, and Chicago Bears. The Vikings play their home games in the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Metrodome has a seating capacity of 64,121, and has been the Vikings Stadium since 1982. The Vikings training facility is located in Eden Prairie, Minn. The Vikings are led by head coach Brad Childress who enters his 3^rd year, brought to Minnesota by owner Zygi Wilf. The Vikings showed a ton of promise last season, finishing the 2007 NFL schedule at 8-8, good for 2^nd in the NFC North. Barely missing the playoffs, the Vikings finished 6-6 in the NFC and were the first team in NFL history to miss the playoffs while leading the league in both rushing offense and rushing defense. Led by star players Adrian Peterson, Chester Taylor, Pat Williams, Kevin Williams, and Steve Hutchinson, the Vikings believe better things await them during the 2008 season.

The Vikings franchise was established in 1961, created as an NFL expansion team after leaving the AFL. The Vikings were League Champions in 1969. The Vikings have won their division 16 times, and have been conference champion 4 times; the 16 division titles ranks 3^rd among NFL teams. Part of the Vikings history is becoming the first team to play in and lose 4 Super Bowls. The Vikings had some truly explosive teams in the late 1990's and early 2000's under then coach Dennis Green. The Vikings are perhaps best known for the Herschel Walker trade of 1989, when Minnesota acquired Walker but gave up their 1^st and 2^nd round picks in the 1990, 1991, and 1992 NFL Drafts.

Building on the success of 2007, the Vikings desperately want to take the next step in 2008. They can only hope to have as much success with their first round draft pick this year as they did last year. First round pick Adrian Peterson finished 2^nd in the NFL in rushing yards. The Vikings have 9 selections in this years draft. Minnesota has already been aggressive in the free agent market, signing safety Madieu Williams from the Cincinnati Bengals and WR Bernard Berrian away from the hated rival Chicago Bears.
