The Miami Dolphins compete in the tough East Division of the American Football Conference.   The division rivals are the New England Patriots, Buffalo Bills, and the New York Jets.  The Dolphins play their home schedule at Dolphin Stadium, formerly Pro Player Stadium, in Miami, Fla., technically Opa Locka, Florida.  The 2007 Miami Dolphins squad went 1-15, including 1-11 in the AFC, under first year head coach Cam Cameron.  The Dolphins were led by QB Cleo Lemon and WR Marty Booker.  The brightest spot was RB Ronnie Brown, who was on his way to his 5th consecutive 100 yard rushing game when he suffered a knee injury against the Patriots.  Though the Dolphins, who are the longest tenured professional team in Florida, have had some tough years, this was the worst record in its history.  Their performance proved too much for Cameron to overcome, being summarily replaced when Bill Parcells became the Executive Vice President of Football Operations.
The Dolphins cemented their place in NFL History by becoming the 1972 and 1973 Super Bowl Champions.  Led by Hall of Fame Head Coach Don Shula, they are also owners of the only undefeated season in the NFL, not losing a single game in 1972.  Though they haven't won a Super Bowl since those back-to-back seasons, they have continued to make history through great players such as Dan Marino.  Marino essentially broke every meaningful NFL quarterback record during his career.  Owners Dan Huizenga and Stephen Ross are anxious to see a return to NFL prominence for their beloved Phins.
When Bill Parcells agreed to oversee the Dolphins football operations, he immediately hired Jeff Ireland to be his general manager.  Establishing a common theme, Parcells and Ireland brought in coaches and players with whom they had good history during their time together in Dallas.  Replacing Cam Cameron as head coach is first year head coach Tony Sparano.  Together with special advisor Don Shula, the new leadership looks to lay a great foundation during the 2008 campaign.  By removing unwanted talent and adding desired players, the Dolphins brass have their sights set on improving the team through the draft.  The Dolphins have 7 picks in the 2008 NFL Draft, including the Number 1 overall pick.
