The University of Southern California is the premiere football program in the country. The Trojans have a long history of success. They most recently claimed the 2003 National Championship and made history by winning the 2004 National Championship. Southern California is consistently the top college program in recruiting: based on first round picks and alumni playing in the NFL. Pro-bowlers Carson Palmer and Troy Polomalu, as well as 2005 Heisman Trophy winner and ratings magnet Reggie Bush are alums. The supremely talented line-up and Pac 10 dominance yields high preseason rankings every year.

Head Coach Pete Carroll has created such an NCAA power that any championship quest must travel through LA. The Trojans play in the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, and have a great home field advantage. Because of recent success, most games on the home schedule in the fall will be sold out. Tremendous fans create the demand for tickets but ticket prices are still very affordable. Parking passes help enjoy the great tailgating outside of the LA Coliseum.

The 2008-2009 schedule has tremendous games on it, with the Trojans the favorite to win the BCS National Championship. 7 opponents on this year’s schedule played in bowl games in 2007. Though not a rivalry game, the best non-conference game will be against the Ohio State Buckeyes on September 13, 2008. There’s also the annual showdown between Southern Cal and Notre Dame, with the Trojans winning six straight contests vs. the Fighting Irish. Conference games in the Trojans’ stadium include visits from Oregon and California. The season finale is an away game vs. UCLA. The Trojans vs. Bruins match-up is always intriguing.
