In 1997, Elton John’s dear friend Princess Diana was killed in a car accident in Paris, France. For her funeral, Elton performed a special version of “Candle in the Wind.” The recorded version, “Candle in the Wind 1997” became the worldwide best selling single of all time. On December 21st 2005, Elton John entered into a civil partnership with his partner David Furnish. Elton has used his fame to become an advocate for LGBT social movements.

In late-June 2008, Elton John will launch a 16-date European Tour, stopping at various locations in the UK, France, Germany and Austria. John will conclude his tour in Manchester, England on December 20th 2008.
